I used to work at a rehearsal studio and one of the others that I worked with was a drummer in a band doing the opposite of what you're doing they took current tunes and big hits and played them in a 50's style. I wish I could remember the name of the band it might of been Big Daddy they did a few albums, worked quite a bit and toured a little. If I can remember their name I look for a YouTube of them they had the whole 50's look to go with the sound.
