To reduce the weight of lugging my keyboard (Korg Pa3x) about, I just bought a soft bag and I’m wondering if it’s feasible to fit two small wheels. Has anyone successfully made this mod. to a soft case?

Return the one you bought and buy a soft case with wheels as per Korg’s own or similar.

Yeah, like you Biggles IF I was transporting any keyboard I'd go for a hard case or somethong like the one you've shown.
Mine will always be on its stand, covered and at home.
But Giner has already bought a soft case without wheels.
I think trying to attach anything to it would be unsuccessful... Hence the trolley idea.
You sometimes even see these things in charity shops for very little money, and they have decent wheels unlike most of the purpose made hard cases.

Thank you all, gents. Until now I’ve been using an SKB wheeled case, but as I mentioned, the combined weight of the 3x olus the case has been getting a bit much lately. @Biggles, I do like the look of that Korg case - wasn’t even aware of that. Well worth a looking into.

I have to use ATA Road cases. They are heavy as heck. Sometimes other people load my gear and they're not gentle. I put my stands in bags though. I can just barely move my own gear. I hope I can last a couple more years because I live to gig and gig to live. Tried to retire but can't.

So, I just got this from Amazon. Haven’t had it on the road yet, but it’s just right for my Pa3x and it’s a sgnificant weight reduction from my previous SKB - which was shortly for the knacker’s yard, anyway. Decent padding, retaining straps inside and it has wheels.

+1 for a luggage trolley from Aliexpress

This is what I did to my soft case for the Kurzweil PC4 88. It works perfectly, in fact when the keyboard is in the case It stands upright and is very stable without needing support, not that I trust leaving it like that for a long time but it is very convenient when you need to use your hands quickly to open a door or something like that.

Personally I always prefer Gator Cases...

This.

I love the "semi-rigid" lightweight/yet strong Gator GK- series, use them on all my keyboards.

They come with a "lifetime warranty" - which has been helpful since the zipper wears out at the part where it goes "around the bend"... the curved part.

They have sent me 3 replacements under warranty over the years! - for cases that have had the zipper start to fail in that spot. Then again, I do drag my keyboards out all over NJ/NY/PA/CT area - almost 150 gigs a year these days!

I am currently awaiting a replacement Gator GK-88 Slim case, to put my Kurzweil P4 in. The one I have is starting to go (the zipper) - in that exact same spot once again: where it makes a 90° right angle turn.

You might want to take the old one to a furniture upholsterer.

He could replace the zipper or add a few leather straps and buckles for a nominal cost.

Yeah - or maybe a dry cleaners, they have tailoring services.

Gator Case used to make you send the bad case back to them before they'd send a another as Warranty replacement.

Then their policy was - take a knife to your defective case, tear it up and send them a photo.

Now I just provide a photo on the Warranty Claim that shows the zipper is breaking - and they say,

"Um, we USED to require you send the defective case back (and User pays for the shipping!) - but at this time we will spare you the expense and just ship out the replacement case to you directly."

So I bough my Kurzweil PC4 in September 2022, with a Gator Case GK-88-Slim Semi-Rigid lightweight case. The zipper was breaking in September 2023, they sent me another one.

Now that replacement I received in Sept. 2023 is breaking and they are sending me yet ANOTHER one!

I wish they would just reinforce the curved part of the case where the zipper always starts to break.

That’s what I got (see my post above). I’m happy with it - certainly waaayyy less weight than my old SKB. That matters. I’m turning 81 in a couple of weeks and I don’t have the physical strength these days.
