Cat fur a worry?

Our dear friend Gary once saw I picture I posted of my cat on my Korg Kronos and he thought it was a bad idea.
I guess if these guys don't worry about it, then maybe I shouldn't either.

I have 3 domestic shorthair cats. They don't shed as much. Sadly, my wife won't let me shave them.
