Can the cp300 onboard speakers be played simultaneously with a pair of speakers plugged into the jacks on the back? Or does it have to be only one or the other?

According to the CP300 Owner's Manual, the CP300 has a SPEAKER button which toggles the built-in speakers on and off, even if a pair of headphones is connected. Thus, you should be able to use the built-in speakers to monitor the sound of your performance even when the CP300 is connected to loudspeakers.

Thank you, I appreciate the information.

That's actually a nice feature, because on almost all of my Yamaha keyboards the sound to the speakers gets cut off if you plug in a pair of headphones or external speakers, and there's no way to turn it back on except to unplug the headphones or external speakers. :)
