Creating Lead sound Yamaha mox8 help please!

Hi I bought a yamaha mox8 and Im confused so much coz its interface is not so friendly to ''newbies''.Any way I want to create Lead sounds like Jens Johanssons' and Children of bodoms.Which programs Should I use? and I ve got Cubase 5ai, is that possible to create a lead sound with that program?
