DGX-660-> Sync Start inoperative

I am attempting to record to tracks 1-5 for a song. I have recorded a couple tracks independently, ie. did not have the first track play when I recorded track 2.

Now I want to record the third track while the curent 2 tracks play. I have done this in the past, using the synch start (click synch start button, and as soon as I hit a key, it starts playing). It is not starting to play, the synch start never starts .

Does anyone know if the process describe above is my problem? Or, any things I have missed to get it operating?

I think the "synchro start" feature applies only to styles, not songs.
