Hello,
I wold like to upgrade my ModX6 but I'm undecided if buy Montage or Montage M6. Online I just verified some differences on sound engine but are there many differences in complex rhythmic performances? Unfortunately in my country is not possible to try Montage M because I can only buy it by booking it from Yamaha.
Thanks for your suggestions and advices.

I’ve owned Motif, Montage and now Montage M. I can tell you the biggest difference between Montage and M is the sound. The M is significantly and noticeably better. That’s the major difference although there are many feature differences as well. If you are not impressed by the sound difference you could be satisfied with the Montage.

Thankyou for reply. I had Motif, then ModX but I need something like an arranger with sequencer, just like Montage (and Motif) but I can't find the REAL differences between Montage and Montage M about the number of performances that play like Motif. I do not care about single instruments, I need something like " digital orchestrator".
My second doubt is... Do the new Montage M performances play on "normal" Montage?

Thanks, but I need a synth, not an arranger. I loved Motif, ModX is almost perfect but It lacks performances with arrangements.

Hmmm. IIRC, Motif Performances didn't have any arrangement functions. I don't think they were anything more than split/layered combinations of up to 4 Voices. Any kinds of "arrangement" function might have come from the arpeggiator function (which is also in the MODX); or might have come from its Song mode (which indeed is not in the MODX, or Montage, or Montage M). Short version: If the MODX does not do what you want in terms of sequencing or arrangement functions, neither will the Montage or Montage M, since the sequencer functions of all these boards are the same. You might want to look at Korg Kronos or Nautilus. They have sequencing functions more like the Motifs. One difference between them that might be relevant to you is that Kronos has KARMA, while Nautilus has a less capable but more traditional arpeggiator function instead.

Motif and Montage/MODX are not "arrangers with sequencers" though such boards do exist... Korg PA700, PA1000, Pa4X, and Yamaha Genos 2, I believe.

I have Kronos and it is huge with its KARMA, but I mean the arranging performances of Motif with arpeggiators, not just sounds. Anyway I understood that ModX or Montage M do not make any of what I need. Thanks.

I believe MODX/Montage/Montage M already include all the arps that were in the Motif XF see:

usa.yamaha.com/products/music_production/synthesizers/montage/compatibility.html

though there is some discussion here of editability differences, which might be relevant to you:
