German 80s Schlager Classic by Roger Whittaker Reimagined on Yamaha Genos & Motif

[Kosmokatze]

Sharing my instrumental cover of Roger Whittaker’s 1982 Schlager song “Wenn es dich noch gibt” (If You Still Exist). Produced with Yamaha Genos + Motif XF – curious to hear what you think of this modern Schlager vibe - a tribute to a timeless German classic!
Let me know what you think of this classic Song in a modern geman Schlager vibe!
And, do you know this artist outside of Germany?

Schlager is not my thing, but you played it well; and with better timing than I would have!
That's one way to avoid non SSS hiccups

Thk you! From what I’ve seen of your playing, there’s nothing wrong with your timing at all.
The modern Schlager isn’t really my thing either, although it’s moving more and more in the direction of pop music and even borrowing elements from EDM. But some of the old songs from childhood do carry a bit of nostalgia for me. I guess in the U.S. the closest equivalent would be something like easy listening or country(-pop) – music that’s super catchy, sometimes a little kitschy, but playing the same role as Schlager does here.

I like his version of "Wind Beneath My Wings" better than Bette Midler's version.

My parents liked Roger's albums. I think he was more popular with older people than younger folks.

Very nicely done! I am not familiar with this specific Roger Whittaker song, but I definitely know of him and grew up listening to his songs like "The Last Farewell" and "Durham Town".

He was basically your typical 80s pop star over here. I know he had a few international hits, but in Germany his German songs were actually way bigger. I kind of grew up with that stuff — it was all over the hit shows back then — so there’s definitely some nostalgia for me, even though I wouldn’t call myself a huge fan or anything.
