Hello All,

I'm looking for some advice in a purchase of the Hammond B3 and a Leslie for my home studio. I am not a keyboard player but a drummer but want to provide the B3 in my studio for recording projects and reversal. This is something that I've always wanted to do throughout my life and I find myself financially able to do so now in my later years.

So, what advice could I get on purchasing a B3? I would prefer to purchase one for under 5K. I know this can be done because I'm been watching eBay. Since I'm located in San Francisco Bay area, I'm willing to drive down to Southern California if that's where the keyboard is. I know in the past when I've worked with bands with B3's, they can be finicky especially when it comes to connecting the Hammond to the Leslie. Again any advice in this area would be appreciated.

Also, I've noticed a couple B3000's that are for sale with Leslie's that are considerably less. I've been reading different things about this particular keyboard that haven't always been good. Again any advice?

thank you in advance for your advice and comments. I appreciate it!

Look for an A series( like an A100, A102, or an A105). It's a B3 in a different cabinet). Can be nabbed for $800 to $1500.

Definitely check it out. If it is in good condition, nab it. An A101 is a B3's guts in a different style cabinet.

Welp, a big thanks to all! I picked up my new (old) A101 with a customized 122 Leslie. It was a bear transporting it, but all is now settled and in place in my little studio. I have ordered Hammond oil and will apply once it gets here. The organ sounds great!
