Hi, please can you advise me on easy software for PC to record my son (10) keyboard playing as he is getting pretty good and wants to take it further.
He has a Yamaha psr630 which has midi outputs. also would I need an analog to digital converter, as you may be able to tell I am starting from scratch here so your help is very much appreciated.
thank you

To connect to the MIDI ports you'll need one of these.

For recording audio you'll need this cable

http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-CMP159-S...992&sr=8-1&keywords=1+4+to+3.5+mm+cable+10+ft

You don't need an A/D converter, instead just hook it up to the blue input on your computer's soundcard, the Line Input.

For MIDI software that's simple enough for a ten year old I'd recommend this:

http://www.notation.com/

as well as these free programs

http://pianobooster.sourceforge.net/

http://www.synthesiagame.com/

And for recording audio I'd recommend this free program

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

Those should be all that you need to get started.

Gary ;)
