Hey! New here -

I’m trying to use reaper as a multitrack midi sequencer - sending midi via usb to an Alesis SR16, thru to a Kawai K1m, then thru to a Korg Volca FM. The aim to compose in Reaper using at least three tracks (or more for the k1m) to send midi independently to each of the three modules.

Any help configuring this would be greatly appreciated

The first thing you need to do is obtain Cakewalk INS files for each device. Reaper relies on those to identify and play individual banks and patches on the devices.

Then once you have properly imported the instrument files and identified your devices I suggest assigning MIDI Channels to your devices.

Set up the Kawai as master controller and set it to play and receive on CH 1 Set up the Volca on CH 2. Set the Alesis Drums Channel to CH 10 (default) and set it's Bass Channel to to any number you like in between.

After that it becomes an editing lesson.

For further information do a Youtube search on "Reaper Tutorials" to learn how to use the software.

The rest you'll have to learn the hard way like everybody does. :D
