Host to USB connection Issue in Yamaha PSR I 455

Hi Guys,

I have been facing issues in connecting my keyboard to my win 7 laptop. I used a USB A male to B male cable to connect to the laptop. The problem is my laptop just wouldn't recognize any midi device connected. And the real pain here is in order to install the driver s/w it's required that windows first recognize a midi device. Otherwise the driver won't install.
Am I using wrong cable? If so pls suggest the cable I should be using. Plz help :'(

Should work fine as it is a plug and play thing.
Try keyboard on FIRST and than the laptop. You should get the message 'found new hardware' or something similar.
BTW you don't need another Yamaha driver!
I use the same connection with a normal USB printercable. Check the cable also!

Strangley enough I have found that the keyboard must be switched on first before windows will recognize it
worth a try anyway.
