How to connect Ketron SD1000 to piano via USB?

I just bought the Ketron SD1000 sound module this week.It has a bugging issue with the MIDI port so I need to connect them up via USB instead.I have 3 USB cables ready to go.Is it possible to connect the digital piano to module without needing a computer/ipad/tablet?

As my Roland RD700SX has its own display screen I can activate the sounds through that.(same way as the Ketron SD2 sound module.).I was hoping that I wouldnt have to buy an ipad/tablet.

Thanks.

There's plenty of MIDI Patchbay boxes out there that connect up multiple MIDI devices but USB MIDI devices are a different animal.

Then again you might be able to accomplish what you want using a $200 netbook computer. Not certain about how bad the latency would be with an Intel Atom CPU though you'd only be using the computer as a MIDI Router and not as a full blown DAW or VSTi.

I'd suggest experimenting with a low end netbook if you can manage to borrow one long enough to test it with some MIDI Routing software like this one.

or this one

http://midirouter.sourceforge.net/

Personally I use Jackaudio on a 3 year old Quad Intel Core Linux desktop with no noticeable latency to speak of. I've never tried setting it up with my 5 year old netbook though, and I'm not eager to try since I'm running a very old XP and Linux Dual Boot install on that machine and doubt I could meet all the dependencies of a modern jackaudio install with it without upgrading my OS.

At any rate, a sub $300 netbook would probably be your best bet to act as a MIDI USB Host/Routing System.

Hi Gary.

Thanks for the reply.
Its very technical for me.I'm used to just midi connections and playing away.I'll looking into those links and learn about them.

The only thing I had heard about before is this:
