I bought a dual pedal (soft and sustain) ...

So I bought a soft and sustain pedal for my p45 yamaha keyboard. I now realize there is only one port for the pedals. The pedals have 2 wires however. Could I only use the sustain cord? Would it still work?

Yeah. Just plug in the sustain wire and it will work fine. The soft pedal could be plugged into a drum machine or some other device that uses a switchable pedal.
