don't know why I bought it, does it serve some purpose or is it just more junk I bought when I wasn;t paying attention? does it serve a purpose or is it just more tnings to plug in??

Well, it does have a lot of pretty red lights.... "it can even scroll a custom message across the pad!"
Maybe you bought it for the sound effects?

My piano teacher uses a kaoss pad 2, he likes how you can tweak your sound in real-time intuitively i.e. through effects, filters, and EQ and things like that. Maybe this will help you? Or just more junk I dunno, I'm not familiar with the features enough. I do know he uses it quite a bit so you'll likely be able to find an application to use it in.
