I own a PC88 and it randomly did not power up properly (the LCD display is filled with "black boxes").
I spend hours on internet to find out what could be the root cause and, as the bad power up seemed to be temperature dependent, I imagined that the non volatile memories (EPROM) programmed with the PC88 software could have lost a few bits (my job was related to EPROM, and the EPROM are garanteed with a data retention of less than 20 years ...).
...took me many (and more!) experiments to determine what was the correct content to re-program in the EPROM, I tried it and my PC88 runs fine today.
If you are interested about more details, please send me a message.
