I have found out to my dismay that there are no facilities available for servicing/repairing Kurzweil keyboards in the UK. The distributor named on Kurzweil's website has informed me that they no longer deal with Kurzweil - so in the event of a keyboard failure, who do you turn to?

Take it to the local recycling centre and dump it.

I suggest giving Anderton’s or Bonners a call and see if they use a Tech who could help, but then you would have a cost of £100 to ship it to the Tech if you are not in shouting distance

Or try to find a localish Tech who might be able to fix it.

Time to roll up your sleeves and doing a DIY repair.

What exactly is the trouble with your board?

The service manual for the PC3 is available online.

BTW, people on the Mastering VAST forums are bitching about lack of service support for Kurzweil in North America as well.

I have to ask why you bought it in the first place.

The only retailers in England are 200 and 300 miles away from where I live, so no way I would buy any Kurzweil, they have had zero effective support here since the year dot.

I agree.
I briefly looked at the Kerzweil, but finding that there was no service or other support for it in the UK I lost all interest in it.
It's VERY important when buying a new keyboard that you have support for it.
I found this out when my Yamaha SX700 developed a fault
After initially being difficult about it, Yamaha agreed to replace the left hand circuit board. It didn't solve the problem, so they replaced the entire keyboard.
The fault still existed, and I eventually found that it had been an issue right back in 2019 when the SX700 and SX900 were introduced.

I have since sold both my SX700's.

I bought it back in 2016 and I had service support supplied by Sound Technology in Letchworth,Hertfordshire. They were an approved Kurzweil distributor and only 20 minutes drive away from me (so very handy and local). Unfortunately, they (and everyone else) now no longer deal with Kurzweil . My board has what I believe to be a loose connector in it which affecting one of the auxiliary outputs, and it now seems that I'm going to have to open it up myself. I have the service manual, so it could be a quick repair if that's the only problem. It's a shame that Kurzweil are taking this stance on support because they're great synths, very powerful and very versatile.

A Google search showed Herts Music Centre in St Albans as repairing keyboards
Checked out your info and the details from their website reads - "Our talented team of technicians here at Herts Music Centre take great pride in the servicing, restoration, and repair of our customers' guitars and brass, woodwind, percussion, and orchestral string instruments."

In other words, anything complicated such as electronic keyboards will most likely be farmed out to 'someone' of unknown ability. However, I agree that there is no harm in checking it out just to see.
