I have had a Yamaha S80 keyboard for years and love it.
After an inactive spell, I have resumed its use but cannot find how to change banks of the S80 in Cakewalk by Bandlab via MIDI. Program changes work fine. Also, manual selection of banks and voices work fine.
Read the instruction manual but it did not help me. Google did not help either.
Appreciate any help on this matter.

There are 4 MIDI Bank Select methods in cakewalk.

Are you certain you are using the correct one?

The S80 uses Bank Select MSB and Bank Select LSB, so you need to use the "Normal" Bank Select method in Cakewalk by BandLab.

The bank number must be computed and specified using the formula 128 * MSB + LSB, as follows:

MSB = 0, LSB = 0 -- bank number = 0
MSB = 127, LSB = 0 -- bank number = 16256
MSB = 63, LSB = 0 -- bank number = 8064
MSB = 63, LSB = 1 -- bank number = 8065
MSB = 63, LSB = 8 -- bank number = 8072
MSB = 63, LSB = 9 -- bank number = 8073
etc.

Thanks SeaGtGruff for your help. Your advice was right on and worked correctly on my S80. (And they revived a few dormant neurons...)
Cheers.

Just out of curiosity, are you writing your own INS file for Cakewalk?

This information should be configured already in a proper INS file for your board,

Otherwise I don't see how this matters when sequencing with Cakewalk.

Gary ;)
