Have you opened it up to see what's inside?

If it's an old UV EPROM (Check for a little window on a 24 or 36 pin chip possibly under a sticky label or a dab of paint)

If it's a newer EEPROM (same number of pins but no wiindow)

Either way I'd look around to see if anyone has one I could copy the ROM from and reburn the chips.

I'm guessing either way it's bit rot affecting the ROM in the expansion card.

You could also replace the PROMs with new chips while you're at it, but all this will require considerable hacking skills, solder skills and a $40 Chinese PROM burner.

It sounds like you may have your winter project cut out for you for this year :)

Good luck :)

Gary ;)

BTW, until you crack it open and look inside you have no way to diagnose the problem.

It could be as simple as a broken or worn trace on the circuit board.

Either way, use static precautions if handling in low humidity.
