This new OSIMO download has been released by Korg for the Pa5X

It looks like quite a decent download. Unfortunately they haven't put any installation instructions in the pdf.
I've emailed KORG and if I get a reply I'll post, but it will no doubt be after the weekend.
Having got my keyboard exactly as I want it, I don't want to screw it up by installing it incorrectly.

Thanks for the link.

In true Korg style they have screwed up again.

In should be a simple matter of File > Load> uncheck the Replace All > OK

But it replaces everything.

I’d hold off installing until Korg UK action it.

There is a PDF file when unzipped that details the Songbook entries that are contained within Osimo.

What happened with the old Osimo versions is that there was a Menu item “Direct Drive” and Checking its Tick Box enabled USB memory stick content to be read directly off the Drive, no installing anything into the internal memory. The exception was Sound Samples as they did not run in Direct Mode.

If there is a Direct Mode on the 5X then I have yet to find it.

As promised.
Here's the reply from Saulo at Korg UK. Hopefully it will help.

"This should work if you select all the individual songs before loading them:

1) Press the File button and navigate to the USB stick/folder containing the Osimo for Pa5X v1.3.KST folder.
2) Select the Osimo for Pa5X v1.3.KST to open its contents. This should reveal the SONGBOOK folder.
3) Open the SONGBOOK folder and do the same with the SONGDB.SDB folder.
4) Within that, you should see the individual song files. Open the Page Command Menu and touch the Select All command.
5) Once all individual songs are selected, open the Page Command Menu again and select the Load command.

At this stage, make sure the Replace All option is not selected and the new songs should be merged with your existing ones."

Thanks,

-Keith.

Thanks for that info Keith.

I wondered if that would work just did not want to risk it.

Just loaded them all all everything seems great, there is a lot of useful songs in there, some I even have in my limited rep.

Saulo is a star.

I bought a Kross 2 way back in 2018 and shortly after an update was released on a limited edition model. Korg said that they were going to include the extra instrument sounds in an update to the standard Kross 2.

18 months later the update was released and Saulo sent me an eMail to say the update was ready to download.

He also helped out with the Pa700 that I had.

Just completed the Osimo installation following the instructions above. No problems at all and a massive addition to the Pa5X.
Having done it, I've also done a full backup dated today.
Happy Days!

😊Glad you got a reply too, and I now think we both have what I truly believe to be the very best arranger keyboard on sale at the current time.
With the v1.3.0 and hundreds of other additional files from previous pa series keyboards, and now this Osimo update, it is a truly beautiful keyboard to own and so rewarding to play.

I played around with the Osimo songs for an hour earlier.

Absolutely love what they have done with Whiter Shade of Pale, it was a joy to play it.

Wonder what tomorrow will bring.

I am working through adding chord sequences, in the few songs that I have added one to it frees up the left hand to pitch bend, add Pads, use Kaoss, or simply add Bass notes.

It's a really great update with many new Songbook Setlists, and an absolute bonus for the Pa5X.
Enjoy.

I loaded Osimo to my PA5x. It created problems with styles not playing properly. I selected Songbook songs from Osimo, sometimes the style would stop playing and then no styles on the keyboard would play. If I rebooted the keyboard, no styles would play. If I played Korg Demo styles and afterwards selected styles, the styles would all play again. If I played certain songs from the Osimo songbook, the styles again stopped. I deinstalled Osimo and now all styles are correctly playing.
I was very disappointed because I thought Osimo was a great addition to the keyboard. On another forum it was speculated that some pre-PA5x styles were likely updated and sometimes these older Korg styles cause problems on the PA5X.
I read where another Korg user had a problem with styles playing properly. After they played Demo Styles, this triggered something and the styles played correctly again. I tried that and it worked for me too, however only for a little while until I played from the Osimo Songbook songs.
I hope that Korg UK can fix Osimo so this problem is corrected. Perhaps each Osimo Songbook song could be tested to see which songs trigger this problem and delete those songs. I would the happily reload Osimo and give a favorable review.

That's unfortunate; yes, hopefully there's a fix for this soon!

As well as for the weird bug (introduced in all recent arrangers) where when you hold sustain, turn off the voice, the sound suddenly just stops. Most arrangers, even if you shut off Upper1/Right1, if you're holding sustain, the sound is supposed to continue (not just Korg, Yamaha PSRssx920, 720, and Genos 2 have this issue as well). On the PA5x, I can't even get the sound to continue even if I'm still holding the keys when I shut off the right hand part. Very odd (you would normally use this feature with say piano + strings/pad, and then when the strings/pad are no longer needed, turn off the the strings/pad sound on say upper3, but sustain the previous notes until you actually start playing a new chord. Currently, all the latest arrangers (it appears to be all brands; but I have no Ketrons here to try, so I can't test on that) will suddenly cutoff the strings/pad sound.
