New to Midi/PC 300 Question

Hello Everyone. I recently acquired a Roland PC 300. I'm using Reason and have the keyboard working in Win 7 64bit after a good deal of research. After starting Reason, I can play percussion sounds, I assume by default. Being so very new to Midi and music through computers, I haven't figured out how to change the sounds the keys make. Either the manual is leaving out some information, or I just don't get what I'm doing wrong.

I attempted a tone change using the "H", "L", and Program Change keys, but honestly, I don't know what the values should be beyond seeing that the piano tone group has values 1-8. Could someone please lead me through this process?

I ended up calling Roland today. They explained that the keyboard can control other devices, but my software is what determines the instrument. Thanks anyway, guys.
