Hi all, At the age of 77 I have just started learning the keyboard. I have an old Yamaha PSR 230. I have the manual but am having trouble splitting the keyboard.
Ideally I would like to split it Left side Strings and Right side Piano.
Is this at all possible on this old keyboard? If so can anyone give me precise instructions please? Thanks in advance.

Page 14 of the manual onwards.

Changing the Accompaniment Split Point location is on page 26

There is a button on the keyboard labelled Split, this should be lit and the keybed will play different voices either side of the Split Point

Thank you for your response. I have the manual and tried your instructions. Not working, perhaps there is a fault with the keyboard.
Thanks again though

I believe the split point separates the chords from the melody.
Chords on the left and melody on the right.

I don't believe you can split voices as such.
Strings one side and piano the other side is not programmed. (That's what I 🤔 think)

No, the manual definitely says "In the Split Voice mode, you can assign two different Voices to opposite sections of the keyboard, and play one Voice with your left hand while your right plays another."

When you press the Split button, do you see the Split icon appearing on the screen, as described on page 14? If not, it may be that the button contacts are dirty.

One other option might be to try the Dual button (Pages 12 & 13) to allow two voices such as Piano and Strings to be played together across the whole keyboard. This is quite a pleasing sound and may be what you are actually looking for.

Thanks all, I've sorted it now. From power on the Main Voice=Grand Piano. If you press and hold down the Split button the menu arrow will automatically jump to the Split Voice on the screen. Choose your Voice and that's it done. Thanks again
