Me likey shiny shiny tings... :D :D :D

Make boom boom noise in the dark :D :D :D

But seriously. $260 CANADIAN!!!

How the hell could i say no?

I picked one up before Trump totally screws over free trade and the price goes up to $699 :p

This thing is an amazing piece of technology.

I'd probably be able to sell it for twice what I paid for it in a year or two. Not that I'd want to sell it of course :D

That's what the girls say.

Keeping up the male tradition Gary! Proud of you mate!

Maybe you have too much time or seriously motivated by modern technology and being inquisitive and resourceful. Yeah!

Let's know when the new baby arrives.

Sounds like you are now an agent for Zoom.

What is the build quality like?

I had a Zoom G1X-ON guitar pedal for a while, it was a combi unit that incorporated hundreds of patches and a wah/vol pedal, worked well, but not very robust so I had to treat it with care and the manual was even worst than Yamaha and Korg produce.

I've downloaded the manuals and am going thru them this weekend.

As for build quality? I won't know until it arrives on Monday.

Prolly a big lump of molded plastic anyway.

Well it arrived today. I'm still trying to figure out the MIDI settings to get it to work with Cakewalk.

As for build quality?

It's mostly plastic but has a metal baseplate and fit and finish seems pretty decent.

The charging connector for the ring looks delicate though.

Otherwise though, with reasonable care, this thing should function well for years to come.

And straight out of the box it has some amazing beats in it. :)

Not too much time to spare to work with it right now, but another two weeks or so and I'll be finished ripping all my MP3s and then I'll have time to focus on it. :D

Had to update the firmware today. It shipped with 1.01 firmware and current is 2.00.

This seems to have solved the MIDI problems.

I had to print out the v2.00 Manuals as well.

Over 200 pages of docs. Seems pretty thorough and pretty well written.

Now it's all set and ready to go.

For the retail price of two cartons of smokes all I can say is it's a HELL of an amazing piece of technology.

It's a step sequencer, it's a synth, it's a looper, it's a sampler and a drum machine all rolled into one!!!

What you should be saying is, "I'll get rid of all my other gear since this thing is a band in a box that replaces everything else." :D :D :D

Honest to god, I swear this thing could deejay a rave all by itself.

Download the manuals and take a look for yourself and see what it's capable of.

You might be right:

. . . How many raves do you DJ ?
.
I will check out the manual -- it looks like an interesting departure from established "electronic instrument" packaging. And you're right -- in terms of "function per dollar", it's really inexpensive.

There's some irony here:

. . . I just spent roughly the same amount, to buy a chromatic harmonica that I can just barely play !

Essentially one note at a time, no drum tracks, no sequencer . . .

Hohner charges an arm and a leg for those things these days.

When I was a kid I could pick up a basic Hohner G Harmonica for like $4 at a department store. :p

Anyway, I've never deejayed a rave in my life, but I'm always looking for new beats and sounds for my own modest creations and I'm thinking this gadget could be the holy grail for creating new rhythms and beats on the fly.

I'm already considering selling off my Electribe ER-1 drum machine as I now have too many drum boxes and this thing literally blows it away on every point of interest.

I sold off my Electribe ER-1 this weekend for $225 CDN.

Net cost to me for the Zoom after taxes and shipping? about $60 :D :D :D

Lovin it!!! :D

Almost done with ripping the CDs. I should be done with that project by the end of this week. After that, I'll start working on a tune with the new box :)
