Looking at General Motors, I remember reading that most of the company's traditional passenger vehicles are made in South Korea (GM purchased remnants of Daewoo). North American production is largely limited to full-sized SUVs & pickup trucks, the Corvette and EVs.

Yes! Biggles, that's exactly what we saw! Both models I'd never seen in North America!

Ah, yeah, sorry. :p The PA5x 1.4 update will happen when it happens; now scheduled for year end.

Probably stating the obvious by now but Korg DID release V1.4. And it's a vast improvement over previous versions, finally delivering pretty much all of the features that people complained were missing/dropped from PA4X. I'm glad I ignored all of the naysayers who claimed they were ready to sell it (or actually did) out of frustration, and instead simply waited for what I was confident Korg would eventually release. So let's give some credit where credit is due. Now I'm not by any stretch claiming that V1.4 is perfect and will go down as the ultimate release. I'm sure there are and will be bugs found that will need to be corrected in future updates. But I can live with that and enjoy the new features introduced in 1.4. Also, pretty much every high end keyboard/workstation based upon a new or significantly revamped architecture has gone through multiple updates before reaching its initially promised potential. As an example, just peruse some of the Yamaha user forums and look at all the complaints and wish list requests users have registered for Yamaha's Montage M keyboards. Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to bash Yamaha or claim that the PA5X is better than the Montage. I really like the new Montage line. Im mentioning it merely as an example of another great product that is going through some growing pains.

Thanks for that, I have been holding off updating mine.

Well I can't vouch that you won't discover a bug (grin)! I'm still a relative newbie to arranger keyboards and am strictly a home studio hobbyist. It seems like most of the criticisms about bugs that I've read come from users that really use the PA5X on gigs.

But by the way, I got the chance to sit down and play the Montage M8X at a local music retailer earlier today. I was curious to try out its control panel after reading some posts here claiming that it was significantly easier to navigate than that on the PA5X. Wow, the thought that went through my head was that either I or the poster must have been playing a Montage from a parallel universe. Because I found the Montage's panel to be vastly less intuitive. The person who last played it at the music store must have been trying to set up a multi-part performance (the term Yamaha now uses for presets). The mere act of backing out of that mode and calling up a simple preset was not remotely intuitive. I felt like I needed to have the manual in front of me to do almost anything. And this is coming from someone who used to own a Yamaha Motif. On the flip side, the quality of the Montage's presets were outstanding, and the keybed on the M8X was sublime, the best weighted action I personally have ever experienced on a digital keyboard. I came away seriously considering acquiring one in the future to complement the PA5X, despite the complex and unintuitive controls.

It is quite a while since I played any Yamaha.

Your experience reinforces my belief that Yamaha techs are deranged Klingons.
