Piano samples/vst samples - switched using a Boss LS-2 pedal?

I have a digital piano which I connect to an amplifier via a mixer. I am really happy with the sound samples from the piano but occasionally I connect it to my Macbook, via MIDI, and use vst sound samples. I play in a band and want to know if it is possible to switch between the default piano sound/vst sound samples using a Boss LS-2 pedal? Has anyone tried this and if so, is there a percievable click, that is heard through the speaker, when changing channels on the pedal?
