I have been playing Cole Porters " begin the beguine"
Playing it from an old music score it showed many symbols.
These really enhances the musical output making the tune so much more exciting to play and sound.

Everyone of these symbols apply at various stages of this tune.

I had to delve deeper to see their meaning.
See below my result.

So now applying these styles makes a massive difference than just a standard play.


In music scores, "p" stands for "piano", which is an Italian term meaning "soft". It's a dynamic marking that tells the musician to play quietly.

Here are a few related dynamic markings:

• pp (pianissimo) – very soft
• p (piano) – soft
• mp (mezzo-piano) – moderately soft
• mf (mezzo-forte) – moderately loud
• f (forte) – loud
• ff (fortissimo) – very loud
