I was wondering if it could be possible to select a scene in the Go:Keys 5 (or 3 for that matter) via a midi command. In my case am I using Forscore for iPad, and for my Yamaha piano I am sending a midi command when opening a song that selects the registration memory (scene in Roland terms) for the corresponding song. It would be great if something similar is possible with the Go:Keys 5. Although it is afvertised as a ‘beginner’ keyboard I want to use it on stage sometimes, and this feature would come in handy. I cannot find anything in the Midi implementation chart that points in this direction, but maybe there’s someone out there who is a wizard with midi…

Thanks for any reply

I'm on it, too. Sadly, there's no "scene" mention in the Midi implementation chart. I can send prg changes and change tones, but can't access to scenes. Btw, you can connect to a computer by Bluetooth (hold the "Menu" button on your Go Keys to pair it via BT), and the Go Keys will transmit prg changes when you scroll through Tones, so you could get the proper prg chg msgs format in your computer app and modify/use it backwards; which is more efficient and quicker than figuring out how to create some proper prg chgs msgs from the Midi implementation chart, especially as soon as Banks are involved. Now, I can't imagine they haven't thought of implementing a Midi protocol for scenes changes, but, again, sadly, it is at least undocumented. having said that, the BT trick is not really obvious in the manual either, so ... Seems to me Roland tries much more to sell subscriptions and tend to rely on proprietary protocols than being opensource about controllers, so ... I might dig a bit into it again sooner or later, but I'm quite disappointed about that at the moment.

Hi Go:Keys people! I'm a very elderly owner of two G:K5's and a G:K3, the 3 bought so's I could learn and practice all the non-keyboard operations (all those buttons!) with the objective of quickly selecting different voices and accompanyments which would be used on the G:K5s I have installed in other people's places. My home keyboard is a Yamaha PSR-SX920, and I love it, had another one at our jamshack, but when visiting players used it, it was just as a piano; the wealth of voices and rhythms it holds were never used. I play bass most of the time, so the PSR didn't often get used. I traded it for the two Go:Keys 5's mentioned above.
At our jams, with usually seven people in the room, we have a list of about 400 songs and often select them by guessing numbers from the list. If the song needs a keyboard solo or other important backup, I'll put down the bass and play the appropriate flute, sax, accordion, piano, organ, whatever, all quickly found on the PSR. But on the G:K5, finding the appropriate voice takes half the song!! I have saved the five most used voices on their buttons, but outside those, it takes too long.
All that said, does anyone know if there's an app which suggests the best available arranger setting for any particular song on any keyboard? I saw a list someone had started, and it looked great, but lost the link when I updated my computer hardware last year. Never was able to find it again. Looks like a candidate for a useful AI app!

That's a whole different topic; the question here is about selecting scenes from an external controller/computer/app. Your post will mess all up, especially while most forum users are warned when there's a new post in the topic, they don't want to have to check only to find some dude shares something else. So please post this in a new topic you create. That's forum use 101 ... And it's 2025 ...

Sincere apologies! My bad.
