Roland TR-8 and Sequencing with MIDI

Hello there,
I have a new TR-8 and cannot get this to sync with any other instruments such as my (old) JP6, 606 and 303. I have it MIDI'd into Ableton and have tried to sync software instruments through this but no joy!
Any ideas?

There's really not that much to the documentation.

Main questions:

1) using MIDI cable or USB?

2) What channel are you using and is MIDI Rx/Tx enabled?

3) What version firmware installed?

Additional questions:

If using USB, is it a USB 2.0 cable?

And did you install the USB driver before connecting the TR-8 to your computer?

Are you trying to synchronize the TR-8 to Ableton, or vice versa?

hello chaps,
I am using a USB. Ableton will start and stop the TR and I can add all of the kit onto Ableton on different tracks. When I have a bass beat going and I bring in say a JP6 software synth the Arpeggio doesn't sync with it.
I have the latest drivers from Roland on the MAC. Ableton is seeing all of the channels on MIDI.
Make sense??

Just an update, yes I installed the driver before I connected the TR-8

It sounds like you’re saying that everything is syncing together fine UNTIL you try to add the JP6 arpeggio— is that correct? If so, it sounds like the JP6 is where the problem is.
