Hello KB forum people
I have saved many registrations on my Roland VR09- as I play in a Madness Cover band every song needs something different.
Does anyone know how I could save the registration banks on USB and then reload onto another bank to I can reorder depending on our set list for the night. Would I need to get an Apple Mac and use software instead? I'd like to keep it simple.
(-: Basically can you re-order set lists- registrations without too much complexity?
Thanks for any advice!!

Hi
I would like to delete this thread, as I can see how easy it is to do this now, with new Roland update, you can store 1 at a time where ever you like!
Please delete thread.

It would be best to keep this thread here so that if someone else has a similar problem it can help them ;)

Hi,
http://ctrlr.org/roland-vr09-vr730-v-combo-editor might help you.
It has a special function to manipulate and merge the registration sets of the VR:

VComboEditor_upg-768x443.gif

what you need is: VR09 , an PC/Tablet with Windows, OSX or Linux + an USB-Stick (usually the one that you use in the usb-slot of the VR).
a new major version v1.12(8) will be released debut of September.

if not yet done, install latest firmware.
FW upgrades brought the option to load single registrations from an 'registration-set' (= upg-file on usb-stick) into VR.

if you do regular 'set-list' reordering or want to copy registrations between backuped upg-files, you might be willing to use the windows/mac editor

Thank you so much Frank!
I was not aware of the necessity to install the Combo Editor on my PC.
I will try to install it from your link, and then use it.
How can I update the firmware on the Roland VR09?

Thanks again!

Hi,
scusi for the delay ;)

1) Editor 'registration organiser':
there is no 'necessity' to use the editor, but it helps a lot:
As VR does not allow direct manipulation of its registrations via 'midi' the process is as follows
:
1. save the registrations set (100 registrations) to a usb thumbdrive
2. plug the drive into PC
3. edit (reorder, deleted, rename registrations or merge from other sets) the 'set-file' in the editor
4. plug the thumb back into VR and load the new set

'con' : using the thumbdrive to literally 'read/send' registrations is a little bit less confortable than 'direct access' - but in practice it's no real constraint
'pro' : midi-haters don't need to deal with 'midi connnections', the sets can be edited without stripping midi-usb cables between VR and PC etc

2) the power of editor ;)
if you're not afraid of connecting Editor to VR by midi nor 'learning Editor', the 'hidden features&sounds' of VR made accessible will bring you a 'new VR'

BTW, a brand new 'release refresh' is ready for download with some new 'editor features'

3) Firmware upgrade:
