Quick question for any who have arthritis in their hands who may have switched from a graded, hammer action board to a semi-weighted board...did the switch make much of a difference to your hands/arthritis? Is it noticeably less impactful on your joints?

Yes.

My semi weight causes me less issues than the Hammer action on the DP that I had.

Only way though is for you to visit a music store and play as many back to back as you can.

That said you may have issues finding a semi weighted keyboard with 88 keys as there are not to many around.

Ok, thanks Biggles; good to know. I plan on doing that...also I need to play around more with the touch settings on my board to see if a lighter touch for lengthy time period may even help a little.

I own a PC3K8 that needs repair and I replaced it with a Studiologic Numa Compact 2X. The Numa has 88 semi weighted keys and I suffer from arthritis during the cold and wet weather cycles. The Numa is definitely easier on the joints.

Good to know... that model seems to offer a ton for the price of it. I think for now I will keep what I have (Korg SV2-73) because I just can't part with it. I'll set the touch a touch lighter...and scale back some of my learning drills. I am trying to overcome 30 years of sporadic playing and bad habits by working through scales etc... so that I become a better player.
Normal playing seems to be somewhat less taxing on the hands/wrists, so I'll get back to more of that. I'm thinking of actually picking up the Korg i3 for a second board, mainly to help with sorting through my song ideas...this would also give my hands a break from the heavier SV2 action.
Thanks for the suggestions guys!

I had enough arthritis to be concerned about it but then I read about a supplement called MSM (methylsulfonylmethane). I read that James Coburn said he had a seriously bad case and started taking MSM and it helped him greatly. My arthritis has practically disappeared! I got mine from mercola.com and I highly recommend it. I didn't improve overnight but it didn't take too long.

I'm fortunate that I don't have arthritis in my fingers but I do in my lower back and knees. It's particularly bad during cold, damp weather. I make certain to use proper posture when seated at my keyboard.

You should also try the key feel beforehand if you can (it's such a personal thing); there are incredibly stiff semiweighted boards that actually tire me out more than the really fast wooden key fully weighted actions; e.g Yamaha p525 and Casio PXS5000/6000/7000 weighted wood (& wood resin hybrid) keys give me less 'pushback' than the new GoKeys keys... which are insanely stiff (and also odd feeling, since the black keys are much shallower than normal)

And hence the 46 million acres of forest burned since 2023

How do you then account for the USA being the second largest polluter of the atmosphere by its release of CO2?

Not by a little but by a huge margin.

It is the USA’s rampant consumerism and commercialisation that is leading the action in killing this planet.

How are you getting on checking out the keyboards in the stores?
Well, unfortunately I had somebody back into my car when I was inside the post office at the end of June...car was considered a write-off; so, I had been without a vehicle for the past month. But I have one now. However, I had planned on keeping the old car for another 5 years, so I've had to dip into every cent of my finances in order to get the "new" vehicle. Thus any fun money I had ear-marked for a keyboard has disappeared.
It may have been a blessing in disguise as I really do love my SV2 and hated the thought of parting with it.
Any move now would have to be strictly a trade-in for equivalent value...
