Slightly impulsive, but hey-ho

Well hello. The only music I've ever done is on guitar/bass and drums, and that's always been fine up until a few days ago, when almost accidentally I started on a clean, stripped-down acoustic project. After giving it a bit of thought I realised ambience in the form of synths (not '80s-esque cheesy porno style) would help complete the soundscape a bit. Originally I'd planned just to manually program something like Cubase using FM8 but the problem I always had was that it never felt quite organic doing it like that. Also, a guitar I'd recorded somehow came out sounding like a piano, it had those sweet clean ringing notes I'd always associated with keys. So! Slightly hungover I decided I had to get myself a keyboard. I guess asking what kind should be reserved for the Buyers and Shoppers bit, so I'll be off there now.

Hey, what's wrong with 80s-esque cheesy porno style? You never know when you might need it for a movie scene, like when the pole rises up out of the floor in that plane scene in Ironman. :D

This is true! I sometimes play solos like wheels of cheese, you could sell them in the supermarket and people would say 'mm, this is cheesy'. What I meant was, in this project it'd be like putting a cattle prod in a bath of water and leaping in with metal armbands whilst yelling 'Thor, god of lightning, was a huge idiot!'

You're right, no cheese is like being colour blind and with a club foot. And...you're bald. Everyone must have some.

And cheers, hopefully my ridiculous humour won't make the regulars want to give me a slap about the face, though I might enjoy that kind of thing anyway. Err...I was just looking at your post and it's a lot more comprehensive than mine. The sum total of my research was googling 'midi keyboard' then saying 'right, I'll get that one.' I hope I don't end up with something that is a highly specialised tool for organising music into binary code only enjoyable by my vacuum cleaner, though that would be pretty psychedelic anyway.
