Some Solstice trivia for ya's . .
Solstice is Latin meaning . .
SOL = THE SUN
STICE = STAND STILL

Solstice summer in the southern hemisphere now. We have roughly 16 hours of daylight here in Melbourne.
Morning Light on our horizon roughly 4am (daylight saving)
Brisbane, being further east is roughly 3am (Brisbane does not have daylight saving)

Good excuse to play this . .

I cheer up once we get through January and February here in MI. Parts of our state are expecting blizzard conditions over the next couple days.

We're expecting rain turning to ice rain, then snow for the next 4 days right thru xmas. Niagara region already has blizzard warnings in effect.

Biggles >>> nice turnout for the druids.

In all my 70+ years I have only ever had one Christmas that I can remember where there was snow on the ground.

Good job I took an image to remember it by.

My Grandparents house on their farm 250km northwest of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, image is c1918.

My Mother and her sister were born here.

For some reason we do not have any images of what it was like there in Winter but Mum always said there was a lot of snow and ice.

Mum was being modest. Winter in SK, Canada is a horrible ordeal for anyone without polar bear blood :p

I gather that.

Grandad went out there in 1903 when he was 18 and his brother and family followed the following year.

The odd thing is they all left the grime and pollution of Bradford on the advice of their Doctor for health reasons, his brother particularly suffered badly not only in Bradford but in Sk. He passed away in 1921 and my Grandad passed away in 1931, pretty sure the extreme weather did not do much for either of them’s health.
