Roland JDxi is a decent beginner's synth. Or a Korg minilogue. Both have sequencers. What's your budget?

OK, so you're more interested in ROMpler Workstations than subtractive synthesizers.

Do you want 88, 61 or 76 keys?

There's the Yamaha CK series, the Roland Juno Line, and the Korg Krome to consider if you don't want to break the bank.

Nothing mentioned so far really qualifies as a "beginner synth."

Most beginners start out with Yamaha PSRs or Casio keyboards.

1 - Do you actually have a keyboard?

If you do what is it?

2 - Do you have an iPhone or iPad?

My thinking is if yes to questions 1 & 2 then an initial option would be to simply connect each together and use a Synthesiser App to get you going.

There are hundreds of such Apps available.

Before I get shot down, no they are not IMO a better alternative to a physical keyboard but they do give you something to play around with that costs very little $.

If I was going to buy a Synth it would be a Deepmind 6X, especially as the 6 here in England is only £500 or about $800 in the US.

As you quote Nautilus which is more of a workstation, I suggest saving your $ some more and take a look at its newer big brother the Korg Kronos which is likely to have the best sequencer in this class of keyboards, alternatives are the Roland Fantom or Yamaha Montage.

I’m not sure how much I have in terms of money, but I need some recommendations for a beginner synthesizer with sequencing capabilities. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Ray, if your looking for a workstation keyboard with a 16 track sequencer, 16 track Audio recording, 16 track Midi recording, for sheer value for money & brilliant sounds & features, my recommendation has to be the Excellent Korg Nautilus, it offers 9 synth engines, plus you can download the Korg M1 & the KORG Wavstation both in there intiarity, I've seen brand new 61 keys for as little as £1300, a bargain for what you get! Hope this helps 🎹
