i have a yamaha psr E313

what software do i need to send the settings (not the notes) to a computer so that we end up with a list of tunes on the computer.
then when we want to play the tune we can send the setting to the yamaha so the tune is ready to play?
in the yamaha book - it says initsend.
we have the thingy with usb one end and midi in and out the other end. (5 pin dins)
I am NOT recording music.

PS tried sonar x1 studio - expensive but nothing works yet.
cheaper (free?) would be great for this small task

After readign the manual, my understanding is that the initsend will send your panel preference settings - Don't think it will send the tunes ets.

From what I can figure, to move tunes from your computer (SMF files you create on sonar) you need to download and install the free Yamaha Musicloader program. Not sure if it allows the other way.

In any case, to move a song from the Yamaha to your computer:

Set up Sonar to recognise the USB audio device as the input (never used sonar before, but I assume there would be a MIDI settingin it somewhere)

Go to creating a new song, start recording and play back the tune on the keyboard.

What I did find on my old PSR-500E however was that only the melody got transferred and the backing was not transmitted over the MIDI.
