Does anyone know if the floppy drive from a KN1500 will work with KN2000. Or where I could find the wiring diagram for them?
Thanks,
Sam

Hi Sam, the drive in the KN2000 is not a standard computer drive. it is a 24 ribbon cable connection and of the old DD spec drives. The modern drives use a standard 34 pin connection. Some people are producing an adaptor connection to use with an USB Emulator, but I have heard mixed results. The KN2000 could well be worth finding a specialist repairer as the KN2000 is a great Keyboard, I have 6 KN's and a Technics Synth WSA 1 which is fantastic synth when you know the Technics operating system and they are getting hard to find.
Regards John.

Hey, John, thanks for the reply. I have 2 KN2000 and I agree, the KN2000 is an excellent instrument. I replaced the floppy drives on them with HxC2001 SD card emulators and have been very pleased with the results. I made my own adapter cables and they worked fine. I found a KN1500 which I bought and am trying to convert it to a Gotek emulator (which uses a USB drive). I haven't been able to find out if the wiring is the same on the KN1500 as the KN2000.
I am really sorry that Technics stopped making keyboards. in my opinion, they made some fine ones. And they are unbeatable for ease of programming. Changing them to emulators really increases the capacity.

Hi Sam , thanks for your swift reply. The drive in your KN1500 is possibly a "Newtronics D359T5 " which was also fitted into KN3000 around the same time. The wiring is not the same, if I could have your Email address I can Dropbox you a copy of the service manual, also if you require any 1500 spare parts I have a few on the shelf. ( My son had his 1500 damaged beyond repair when moving house so I broke it for spares ). Your knowledge on converting the KN2000 over to an Emulator would be of great interest to me. I have looked at the Gotek unit ,there is now one that does HD as well as DD format, your KN1500 is normally HD but will handle both types of disk. My Email is "jd5live @blueyonder.co.uk" I will send link for manual by return.
Regards John.

Alas Technics are no longer in the keyboard market.

If you are desperate for a Technics you will need to source one from the Classified or Auction websites.

I have the Technics Kn2000, but can't change the voice. Reason being that the whole side of that voice changing section doesn't light up as before....

What can I do please?
