Uh oh, n00b Q... digital v analogue?

Ok.. I think I KINDA have the BASIC idea of the difference between analogue and digital synths... it's to do with the processing of generated signals.. I .. um think

Can someone please explain to me.. what are the advantages and disadvantages of analogue synths and digital synths?

Which ones are best for which sorts of situations?

This might help me with getting a new keyboard later in the not too distant future thanks
