I want to use my PA1000 to play live music in a band. However, I have never been able to understand or figure out how Songs vs Keyboard sets vs whatever…..I find it very confusing how it is setup or configured. I basically want to be able to create a "Song" that allows me a few different sounds to use while playing that song…..maybe change key just for that song, etc. Then I want to be able to go to the next "Song’" with a new set of sounds and settings…….and so on.

Is there a way to easily accomplish this on the PA1000?

Hi. I use my PA1000 in a five-piece band. I don’t need any drums so don’t use styles. I choose the piano/ electric piano/ organ sounds etc; sometimes brass or strings depending on the song. I use the assignment foot pedal set to mute or use Upper 2 sound depending again on the combination of voices i need at a certain part of a song. I move the split point a lot to get sounds where I want them on the keyboard. Once I’ve set the sounds I name and save them to my band’s set list.
Hope that helps.

Keyboard Sets - are using Korg speak in other models are in effect Combi’s.

Each is a layered mix of the layered sounds that you want to Combine (Combi, now do you get it).

Save the Keyboard Sets that you create to suit the Bands Repertoire to the User Bank of choice, renaming the bank as required. Then whilst playing you can bring up the User Bank and have all those Keyboard Sets also available for as seamless a transition as you can get with a Pa1000.

To make life easier using Songbook and Setlists Korg have Windows software available, check out Korg Songbook Editor if interested.

Like previous contributor, I don't use drums as our group has a drummer. The songbook function although very clever and ---once used to it will be , I am sure , great as it uses setlists just like my 'mobile sheets ' prog used on a tablet rather than sheets. However I have found it difficult to 'get into' despite reading the instructions several times. So I set sounds and store them against the STS functions (1 thro 4) ---including transpose , and store them in 'user' ---so by naming each user store as something that has meaning for you----then when changing instruments its just pressing one of the STS buttons.

Yes - I found the instruction manual to be kind of cryptic but in actual practice it’s pretty easy. Once you’ve got all your settings (styles, sts, transpose, etc) set you’ve done all the hard work. Basically after that, all you do is press songbook, new song, press the save button and enter the song name. Not a lot of effort. And again, then you can set up a setlist to put the songs in order to save even more time at a gig.

Stop beating yourself up.

Songbook is very quick and easy to use.

Even easier if you use Songbook Editor I advised prior.

Watch and follow along.
