I want to use my Yamaha Motif ES8 as a back up band so I can sing and play lead guitar. I have two sound monitors to play the music through. I’m very new to this and do not really know how to use my Motif yet.

1. How do I record the drums, bass and keyboards so I can play it back through the monitors?
2. How do I plug my guitar into the keyboards to record it? Might I damage it?

If you want to record REAL instruments your board must have sampling capabilities, wich may hog up some load time.

Drums have to be played on the keybed (you can slow if down.) im not joking but this is how 99% of people do it.

same with bass and key, you can quantize it for perfect time.

also your board will require a sequencer.

hope this is a help

Sequencing on the Motif

Basically, you record several tracks one at a time - Each on a different midi channel. You can have up to 16 of them
