I'm afraid I don't have any good suggestions. I'm not even sure which keyboards fall within that range, but in my humble opinion the string instrument voices tend to sound pretty awful in most of the portable keyboards I've heard-- or the less expensive ones, anyway.

Out of curiosity, which string sounds are you most interested in? That category could include a variety of different instruments, from plucked strings (guitars, lutes, harps, etc.) to bowed strings (violins, cellos, etc.). I find that the acoustic plucked string instrument voices tend to sound more convincing than the bowed strings on the keyboards I'm most familiar with, especially if you play the chords in an arpeggiated or "rolling" fashion, whereas the violin voices tend to sound unconvincing.
