I think the "E" probably stands for either "Educational" (because these models have the "Yamaha Education Suite" or "Y.E.S." software built into their ROMs) or "Entry-level," or possibly both.

And I think the "S" in the PSR-S models probably stands for either "Stage" or "Studio," or possibly both.

Michael, You once told me that "E" could stand for Entry models.
I always believed this.

Whereas "S" are more advanced models or Standard models.
These are a Stepping stone to the fully advanced / top of the range Tyros models.

Hmm, "Standard." That's a good suggestion! We may never know the truth, because Yamaha will probably never tell, but it's fun to guess. :)
