At my age ones mortality starts to raise its head as family and friends have had their last dance on this Earth.

This got me thinking of what songs I would want playing before my final curtain closes.

So here is my Final Playlist:-

Whiter Shade of Pale - Procal Harum
Led Zepplin - Kashmir
Breathe - Pink Floyd
Waterloo Sunset - The Kinks
Bet Your Life - Paul Carrack
Philosophers Stone - Van Morrison
Every River - Runrig
Forever Autumn - Justin Hayward (from Jeff Waynes War of the Worlds)
Nights in White Satin - Moody Blues
End of the Line - Traveling Wilburys
……..& as the curtain closes
Fire - Crazy World of Arthur Brown

What’s your final Playlist?

I'll have to give mine some thought but I really don't have any plans of dying at all ;)

@Biggles no need to be depressed. I know how you feel. No new keyboard for second year is hard on anybody's soul.
BTW excellent choice.

Me? I am disabled kid of 80's so I literally listened to everything from rock, metal, classic, pop,....but with special interest to synth pop. If I had to pick one song this one would be on top of the list:

Good as the last song for funeral too. :)

Or more modern version...

......but it never fails to give energy....well in some sort of remixes.

Neither do I, it is just we have lost three family and friends in the last two weeks that got me thinking.

This is an interesting thread. As for me, will be retiring in exactly 27 days and this fact got me thinking about things... not death but more the fact that I'm not sure how long I will be able to play or write at my current level. Arthritis is starting to affect how long I can play so I decided to get some of my original music released. I've been writing for many years but was never interested in putting out a completed work until now. I released my first EP last month and my plan is to put out an EP every 6 months until I either run out of material or can no longer play. Kind of sad but that's my motivation. The Stones said it best... "time waits for no one and it won't wait for me"

GREAT pick. I've always said that if I was forced to pick ONE greatest song from the 80s, it's Smalltown Boy. Boys of Summer would be a close second.

Huh I didn't hear that one in very long time. Shame on me.
From 80's pop-rock genre I listened to Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Traveling Wilburys, Dire Straits, Def Leppard, Van Halen, AC/DC and others however this ones are on top of my doomsday list. Could listen just to this songs till the end of my life. :p

Bryan Adams - Summer of '69

Morrissey - Everyday Is Like Sunday

Simple Minds - Don't You (Forget About Me)

Foreigner - I Want to Know What Love Is

Traveling Wilburys - Not Alone Any More

Bruce Springsteen - I'm Goin' Down

If you guys would like it, we could change the "What are you listening to?" thread to the "What are you Dying To Thread?" :(

Personally I'm finding the whole topic a little unsettling in the middle of a pandemic and the beginning of WWIII.

I'm finding this thread to be morbid and distasteful in these times and humbly request that you and the mods end it quickly.

If I'm feeling a nerve with my rhinocerous-hide epidermis, then imagine how newcomers would feel if they'd recently lost a loved one.

Gary,

I agree with you. I would have posted a question like.... What's Your Current Setlist? and aske everyone to list their setlist. For some it might be one list of a dozen or so songs. For others that are gigging (yes some of us remember those days) it might be two or more set lists. We'll see how the response goes, but it might be fun to see what others are playing out and about at venues.

Jack, I'm 100% behind you on that.

Posting your current setlist/playlist is far less morbid than all of us sitting here plotting our own funerals.

How about it mods? Let's shut down this sorry thread and post something happier.

Mine, however is less of a list and just more of a shuffle feature.

You do not have to join in a thread that you do not like.

Best not to comment adversely as that can cause offence which in my case it is.

I’ll message you Gary.

As a newbie here I'll obviously take heed of the mod call but gee, I think the funeral setlist topic is a very legit and interesting one. We're all adults and I don't talking about a reality of life in a constructive way is problematic...

I hope they deliver Gary his new Nautilus keyboard as soon as possible. He has too much time to think about WWIII and "The End Of The Line".... :);)

The Traveling Wilburys - End Of The Line

Well, it's alright, ridin' around in the breeze
Well, it's alright, if you live the life you please
Well, it's alright, doin' the best you can
Well, it's alright, as long as you lend a hand

You can sit around and wait for the phone to ring (at the end of the line)
Waiting for someone to tell you everything (at the end of the line)
Sit around and wonder what tomorrow will bring (at the end of the line)
Maybe a diamond ring

Well, it's alright, even if they say you're wrong
Well, it's alright, sometimes you gotta be strong
Well, it's alright, as long as you got somewhere to lay
Well, it's alright, everyday is judgment day

Maybe somewhere down the road a ways (at the end of the line)
You'll think of me and wonder where I am these days (at the end of the line)
Maybe somewhere down the road when somebody plays (at the end of the line)
Purple Haze

Well, it's alright, even when push comes to shove
Well, it's alright, if you got someone to love
Well, it's alright, everything'll work out fine
Well, it's alright, we're going to the end of the line

Don't have to be ashamed of the car I drive (at the end of the line)
I'm just glad to be here, happy to be alive (at the end of the line)
And it don't matter if you're by my side (at the end of the line)
I'm satisfied

Well, it's alright, even if you're old and grey
Well, it's alright, you still got something to say
Well, it's alright, remember to live and let live
Well, it's alright, the best you can do is forgive
Well, it's alright (alright), riding around on the breeze
Well, it's alright (alright), if you live the life you please
Well, it's alright, even if the sun don't shine
Well, it's alright (alright), we're going to the end of the line
