I have purchased a replacement middle C key for my Yamaha P-80. When I attempt to insert it, it depresses the piece that it’s supposed to connect to instead of sliding in place. Consequently, the key doesn’t stay in place or go to the same level as the other keys. I have watched YouTube videos but I cannot get it to to slide in. Any suggestions?

You will need to align the key and the balance weight to fit it together correctly, and they should then just click into position.

There should be no sliding involved unless you have not opened up the keyboard.

It is a case of as Dave hints at, take it to a Tech if you are not 100% confident.

It is an old model which has been superseded by the P125 so may be beyond economic repair by a Tech, so if you do go this route get a quote first, then decide.
