The screen on my Yamaha is hard to read. If I play with the CONTRAST CONTROL, I can eventually read the left half or the right half of the screen. Changing voices/rhythms sometimes corrects/changes the display. ANY IDEAS???????????

If you're comfortable opening it up check to see if all the cable connections to the display are properly seated. Sometimes there's an oxide buildup causing contact resistance that requires cleaning with Deoxit.

Be warned. Some mylar ribbon cables use EXTREMELY delicate connectors or are sometimes soldered to the board.

My advice is to use extreme caution and good judgement when it comes to messing with those types of ribbons.
