No, I've got colleagues who work in AI, a lot of it is heavily curated by humans to get the "correct" results. If you do language translation, for example, you'll see it makes dumb mistakes that show it has no understanding of language, it's just a massive search engine and pattern matcher.

Sorry, no disrespect meant, but I don't think you understand its capabilities.

Machine learning is AI's smaller, less threatening sibling in that its much more focussed, restricted and less likely to become sentient and want to kill all humans and take over the world. ML's capabilities are unbelievable.

We use it to classify photos of manufacturing defects that are gathered on a different metrology tool. It's able to classify messy and confusing information in milliseconds that would take a trained person minutes or hours. It's very very rarely wrong.

Many of the defects would be 'judgement calls' where it'd take a couple of skilled engineers some time to review, discuss and classify them.
