What's the use of trimming your fingernails when playing the piano? My teacher said that I need to trim my fingernails. He didn't said the reason behind this and now I'm wondering. :))..

I'm no expert, but whenever I my fingernails are a bit longer than usual they tend to make a persistent clicking sound as they hit the keys on my keyboard. Whether long fingenails make a similar sound on the piano I'm not sure.

Yep - when you're playing properly, your fingers curl over slightly - and if you have long nails, you get the clackety-clack or just plain pain. You then develop bad habits like me with "flat fingers".
