Technics sx-kn930 will not play.

Hi everyone,my old technics sx-kn930 refuses to play any sounds.When switched on ,press play ,Loud Hum Display lights up,all buttons are recognised on display,nothing else works? Can anyone suggest anything to help?

Just the same nothing but constant hum.

Check under your MIDI settings. LOCAL should be switched to ON.

Been through midi settings No Local appeared.?

Look again. Check your manual.

They don't say a lot about it, but LOCAL CONTROL is mentioned once on page 117 of your manual.

If that doesn't work try backing up your settings and do a factory reset.

If factory reset doesn't fix it then it's a screwdriver problem.

No ,factory reset ,still no sounds ,including h/phones.

It's a technician job now. Probably a shorted or open electrolytic capacitor.

Given the age it happens.

A proper restoration would be to replace the caps with new good ones.

The hum indicates a filter cap is shorted.
