Dear beautiful people,

The kids have a Casiotone to keep their sticky fingers away from my collection. However, they decided to plug the wrong plug in and made it pop.

Knowing nothing of fixing, what would be the fix for this*? Sadly the battery compartment is a no go, again, due to kids...

*Fix being for the keyboard, not the kids.

Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated as I'm determined to fix it.

Thanks,
Paul

When you say 'wrong plug' what exactly did you mean? -----my old father in law had a Casiotone and if memory serves it needed either batteries or 9V plug top supply----- .

The question was posted 5 months ago.

I'm pretty certain it got trashed or sold or otherwise disposed of by now.

If he put in something with reverse polarity it probably blew out a diode or fusible link that is beyond his capabilities to repair.

Casio doesn't sell any instrument with user serviceable parts and you can pick up a working equivalent at most yard sales for $50.

Addendum to happyrat: I blew an sz 1 sequencer by applying power in reverse. What tends to happen in such equipment is a diode blows, and it's a 50p fix. I can't say for the model in question, but I have fixed casio dg guitars, which blow a small transistor which is in the auto power off loop. Again this is a 50p fix and solves the guitar not powering on. I'm sad to say I could not find what blew in my sz and sold it, and now they're rare as hens teeth and way more expensive. I wish I'd kept it to fix.
The dg fix is at my website.
