Hi
Have a FA-07. Suddenly, the sample keypads are not working. Not lit either. Anyone run into this? Keyboard on its way out? Currently, everything else works fine.
Thanks!

Possibly a broken or dirty connector.

If you need contact cleaner, the best brand in the business is DEOXIT.

I have to take apart my PC3K8 to face a similar issue.

I'm planning to open it up this week.

Watch a lot of Youtube videos.

Take lots of pics and videos when you take it apart.

Mark the cable ends with a sharpie to ensure proper orientation when re-attaching.

Try not to break anything...

Cross your fingers and pray.

If the controller itself is shot, Check out these sources for replacements.

And as a last resort, Ebay.

Depends on how much you pounded out drums on that thing over the years as much as anything.

Much appreciated! Was afraid it might get that involved.
Already been researching Yamaha ModXs if I need a new keyboard. Heard good things.

If you try and sell it without repairing it, you'll be offered scrap prices anyway.

May as well get your hands dirty and open it up.

Used in good condition they are selling for around a thou-$1200.

In its current condition you'd be lucky to get $200-$400 for it.

If you can afford to eat the loss it's up to you.

No I'll be opening it alright. Just don't have time for how long it may take. I'll open it, assess how involved it will be, and decide if I'll grab the Yamaha in the meantime. If I had the $$, I'd grab a Nord.

Thanks for the detailed steps on the repairs. Will really help!

I can afford to take my time with the Kurzweil.

I've plugged my backup Studiologic Sledge into my studio for the time being. ;)

If you want to save some cash, look at the new Yamaha CK88.

Pretty nice sounding beast for mucho less coin.
