I never really got into it.
The history of Moog is quite interesting.

Synths originally got their start in classical and jazz. Look up Dick Hyman and Wendy/Walter Carlos. Even people like the Beach Boys and the Kinks were using them in the 60's.

Bob Moog supplied a lot of support to the industry but there were many others in the early days.
