I just started to learn my way into my new Thomann. First quirk: I tried to send a PC midi file to keyboard via cable to the Midi In input and got nothing. Does the keyboard handle midi files differently? I set the global setting utility Midi I/O to Midi and below that Midi IN to ALL and Keyboard Local ON. What am I missing?

First, create a formated pendrive. Then copy the midis you have, to folders, from the computer to the pendrive, but each one only may have up to 499 files inside. Then, put the pendrive on the keyboard again, and press Usb. Then on the visor, search for the folder and choose a midi name. Then press start, like when we are starting to play a style. That's it.

The reply from Domingos Saude should be a big help to you but as far as I'm aware, you shouldn't need to SET Local Control On. That should be the default setting every time you turn on your keyboard and would certainly be needed if you were wanting to play along with your Midi file. Otherwise you would not hear anything you play physically, whether you have a midi connection or not. (at least on my keyboards). So, when would you want to turn it Off?

It is used mainly to control whether you want your keyboard to sound if you are using it to control another Midi instrument or sound module (Midi Out instead of In). Sometimes, you may want to combine the sounds, so you want Local On but at other times you may only want to hear the sound of the slave or remotely controlled device in which case you would set Local Off.

Apologies if this is something you already know but the fact that you mentioned it would lead me to think that you perhaps are not aware of what it is for.

While trying to solve this I ran into another issue. I formatted a usb drive in both eFAT and NTSF on my PC (Win10 64bit) then plugged it into the keyboard which promptly rejected it as an unsupported format. On top of that, the keyboard refused to format the usb drive either. Any suggestions?

You should certainly be able to play a MIDI file in a sequencer/DAW and output it to the 670, but maybe that's not how you did it.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up figuring it out myself. I didn't set the midi input correctly.
